One Year, 6 Months, 17 Days

So we have moved to Santa Barbara and I'm still struggling to get a job and while I do that, I have began avidly planning the wedding.
Chris has been great and we've picked out invitations, which adds to our rather accomplished list of having the caterer, photographer, cake shop, DJ, and venue chosen. One of my Aunts has agreed to make my wedding dress, so I'm getting down to the nitty gritty of what I like. In the next six months I hope to lose enough weight to go dress hunting and I will head home to try on dresses with my Mom and Maid of Honor. That way I'll get an idea of what looks best on me and can hone the design to send to my Aunt. Anyway, will hopefully post photos of ideas soon!!!

The Real Deal (God Willing)

So Chris and I are on again - planning a wedding that, in the grand tradition of he and I, is ever changing. When we decided to get married, we set a date of Sept 25th, 2010. For a number of reasons, I finally gave in to good sense and pushed it back a year. Sometime in the summer or fall of 2011. I want a September wedding quite badly. It's at the end of the 'Wedding Season' and is so much cooler (literally - temperature-wise) a month. However, if the groomsmen cannot fly from Illinois and Norway respectively because of school... then what I want is kind of moot. Chris only has two close friends - no sense in alienating them from the wedding altogether.

May in this area (Also on a cooler end of summer) is not really an option for an outdoor wedding. Besides gale-force winds, sporadic rains are also a very real possibility. Luckily for me, my mom is excited about my wedding - even if she IS the only person besides myself. Chris doesn't get excited about anything. Except having an excuse to buy purple alligator shoes (still praying to God he's not secretly gay.... :-p ).

We have a location, luckily. My Aunt and Uncle own a beautiful Victorian in the area with lovely gardens and wide spaces perfect for a wedding - Chris and I crashed a wedding held there this past weekend to see how it would work out. It was really beautiful and we're excited to make our own additions to the other couple's lovely setup.

I have a pastry chef whom I'd LIKE to have make the cake, but as she hasn't responded to me yet.... *sigh. I really hope she does it.... I don't know who else I'd get - I'm SO picky about my cakes. I might have to dig into my pockets and do Pastisserie Angelica. Fortunately (cost-wise) what we want for flavors is RELATIVELY inexpensive (Marzipan cake with raspberry preserves and fresh raspberries) UNFORTUNATELY, my imagined design is....complicated and (unsurprisingly) very specific. Much like my plans for a wedding dress.....

Which brings me to losing weight. Which I am doing, but not at a satisfactory rate... therefor, I'm looking at a Bikram yoga studio in the area and have asked for a yoga pass from Chris for my birthday (October). He seems willing, on the condition that I take the studio, and more specifically the hot yoga, for a test-run. I hate the suffocating feeling of really really high humidity. I'm really hoping though that this proves tolerable.
My ideas thusfar:

<----Cake decorated like this.
<----But crooked like this.
<----Diane Lane's Hair
<---A dress vaguely like this.

<---Flowers very much like this.
